New Build Estate – Colchester

GMAC Utilities Ltd were contracted by MDS Civil Engineering to provide a new clay sewer and connect to an existing main on a Taylor Wimpy project near Colchester.

The job entailed a mix of guided auger boring and timber heading work to insert the new pipes and connect to the old. The team also made the job ready for a future estate on the other side of the road.

For the auger, five 5m deep pits were dug to facilitate the boring and the insertion of the new pipes. Four shots were then drilled to link the pits and once installed the pits were backfilled and the road made good.

Two timber headings were dug in on pit to connect to the existing main and leave a manhole and relevant connections ready for future construction projects.

The skilled Gmac tunnelling team made light work of the project, delivering the job on time and on budget to the client.
