A30 – Cornwall

GMAC Utilities Ltd were contracted by G&J Engineering on a project for Highways England in Cornwall. The project was to install a new gas main. GMAC were tasked to place the 320mm high pressure steel pipe under a roundabout on the busy A30 trunk road just outside Newquay.

Our crew took the All Terrain Ditch Witch JT60 down to Cornwall and had no trouble drilling through the hard Cornish rock and reaming out to 400mm, despite the constant winter rain and challenging ground conditions. The JT60 then pulled the 230m, 20 tonne, steel pipe through with ease.
